Biography

Chameleon String Quartet


String Quartet Kameleon exists since 2001. The quartet performed at many events, among which we would single out Nušićijada in Ivanjica, Nušić days in Smederevo, Danilo Lazović days in Priboj, Music summer in Aleksinac, Marble and sound in Arandjelovac and other cities in Serbia, where often contributes its performances of both classical works and popular evergreen, rock, movie tunes. From the performances in Belgrade, we would single out concerts in the hall of the Kolarac Foundation, Madlenijanum, the RTS gallery, the atrium of the National Museum, and in Novi Sad in Matica srpska. At the end of August 2024, the quartet will perform at the "Malta International Piano Festival", and in the fall of the same year, concerts of music by Serbian composers are coming up in Belgrade, Zrenanjin and Kragujevac supported by SOKOJ. The goal of the quartet is to nurture the local cultural heritage, so the repertoire often includes at
least one work by Serbian author. This ensemble consists of:

Katarina Tešenji Kovačevski


Born in Belgrade, she received her basic musical education at the Mokranjac School of Music in Belgrade, in the class of Professor Đula Tešenji. She completed her Master's degree at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad in the class of Professor Uroš Pešić. She was on specialization in Oxford, with professor Kato Havas and in Budapest at the Franz Liszt Academy (1998-2000) with professors Nataša Šoš and Peter Komlos. For three years, she was the concertmaster of the Borislav Pašćan Youth Philharmonic, and as a representative of the Musical Youth of Yugoslavia, she participated in the work of the Mediterranean Orchestra and, by invitation, was a member of the Philharmonic of Nations. He is a member of the RTS Symphony Orchestra, where he still holds the position of deputy concertmaster.

He has been the concertmaster of the Zemun Chamber Orchestra since its foundation. He is a member of UMUS.

Kornelija Stamenković


She received her basic musical education at M.Š. Mokranjac in Belgrade in the class of Prof.Djule Tesenji. She finished her studies in the class of prof. Uroš Pešić. She was a member of the youth philharmonic "Borislav Pašćan" and the Vojvodina Youth Philharmonic. She performed as a soloist in the hall of the Dom Vojska and the house of Đura Jakšić in Belgrade, as well as in the halls of music academies in Niš and Banja Luka. She nurtures the sound of chamber music through her work in the Zemun Chamber Orchestra, which she led for a time. He also collaborates with the "Camerata Serbika" orchestra, where he leads a group of other violins. She is permanently employed in the symphony orchestra of RTS.

Ivana Mandić


During her formal musical education, she studied in the classes of the following professors: Angelina Lebedinski, Milutin Popović, Jovan Stojanović, Vesna Rilak Stanimirović, Panta Veličković, Nataša Stanojević. When she was in high school, she played in the "Borislav Pašćan" Youth Philharmonic, where she developed a love for joint music and symphonic sound. Since 2007, she has been employed in the Symphony Orchestra of Radio and Television of Serbia, and since 2016 she has been the leader of the viola group in her orchestra.
Since 2009, he has been a member of the Zemun Chamber Orchestra and the string quartet "Kameleon". As a part-time collaborator, he participates in the projects of numerous chamber ensembles with which he performs in Belgrade, throughout Serbia and abroad. In the period from 2001 to 2012, she worked as a teacher at the Elementary Music School "Vladimir Đorđević" in Belgrade. She played in the newly created string orchestra "13 Strings" from the first concert (in 2021), which resulted in collaboration with the chamber orchestra "Profundis" from Skopje and in 2023, she is a guest member of this orchestra from North Macedonia.


Aleksandra Bengin


She began her musical education as a student at the Josif Marinković music school in Vršac, playing instruments: piano, cello and percussion. She also completed high school music in Belgrade for the same instruments. She continued her studies at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, where she completed basic piano studies in the class of prof. Aleksandre Pavlovićand basic, master and specialist studies in the class of prof. Sandra Belic. She improved at the master classes of violinists: Natalija Gutman, Leonid Gorokhov, Vashti Hunter, Valentin Radutiu, Evgenij Rumyantsev and Maja Bogdanović. Since 2022, he has been a member of the RTS Symphony Orchestra as a permanent external associate. As a cellist, she performs regularly and is a member of several musical ensembles, including: Duo "Dragorad", Duo Bengin & Predolac, ensemble BLISS, Belgrade Youth Folk Orchestra - BONO.

Milica Lawrence completed her piano and harpsichord studies at the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade, former Yugoslavia. Here, Milica specialized in chamber music and received her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree (DMA) at the same Faculty. She attended piano and harpsichord masterclasses with many distinguished pianists such as Sergei Dorensky, Jegor Chugaev, Pavel Nersessian, Huguette Dreyfus, Egon Mihajlovic, Olivera Djurdjevic, Yuri Kot, Maria Luisa Baldassari, etc.​ Milica has won numerous prizes for solo and ensemble performances at domestic and international competitions. She has also held a great number of solo recitals and chamber music concerts both in the country and abroad (Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Hungary, Montenegro, Macedonia, Libya, etc.). Notably, her recital at the Italian Cultural Centre in Tripoli is noted as the first concert by a Serbian pianist in Africa. She has participated in reviews of modern classical music as well as in festivals BEMUS, OKTOH, Cello Fest, Basomanija, and many more. Milica has taken part as an orchestra member in the Faculty of Music Arts Orchestra in Belgrade, and as a guest member in the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, Dusan Skovran String Orchestra, Schlesinger Orchestra, Mokranjac Chamber Orchestra, Zemun Chamber Orchestra.​ Throughout her career she has collaborated with many renowned artists - Sreten Krstic, Uros Lajovic, Dmitry and Alexander Sitkovetsky, Charles Zachary Bornstein, Milos Petrovic. With the Chamber Orchestra Mokranjac, the FILUM Orchestra, and the Schlesinger Orchestra Milica performed as a soloist. She has also recorded for radio and TV. At the First International Competition Beogradski Pobednik in 2005, she was the only pianist who received recognition by the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Serbia and Montenegro for special artistic participation - 'Ruski dom u Beogradu'. Milica has worked for fifteen years as an independent artistic collaborator at the String Department at the Faculty of Philology and Arts in Kragujevac, Serbia. ln 2019 she becomes resident of Malta and opens Malta Piano Academy in Paola, Mosta and Gozo (Victoria & Gharb) while maintaining an actlve soloist career at the same time. From 2019 to 2022 she also worked at Mikiel Anton Vassalli College as a piano teacher and accompanist. ln August 2022. Milica organised the first ever Malta International Piano Festival held in Gozo. She is currently working on her very first digital and printed magazine "maltesepianist.mt".
