Malta Piano Academy - Workshop by Chris Jarrett fot. Sławek Wąchała-2437.JPG

About workshop - The music industry and consumers are easily fueled by entertainment. Most of the time, notes are played, less often composed. Even when creating music on your own, you feel constrained by specific styles. But where can you find personal expression and its free development in improvisation? This course focuses on developing yourself from the beginning, not as a "technicus," but as a "musicus," with the right to self-determination. The course is aimed at both beginners who want to delve into improvisation and those who have already begun to explore their musicality. It offers the prospect of personal success to both beginners and advanced musicians.

Chris Jarrett, the son of a Slavic family, was born in 1956 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and grew up in the forests of the Appalachian Mountains. He began playing the piano at the age of 13 and received free lessons from the great Austrian pianist Vinzent Ruzicka. After graduating from high school, he studied piano and music history at the Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio. Dissatisfied with the elite program there and penniless, he began his "wandering years": he worked and lived as a crab fisherman in the Gulf of Mexico, a factory worker in Texas, an office worker in New York City, and a kitchen helper in London. These were jobs that secured his livelihood while also offering insights into diverse lifestyles. His path led him to Europe. Since then, Chris Jarrett has made a name for himself worldwide as a composer of piano, chamber music, opera, ballet, theater, and film music. He performs as a pianist in jazz clubs, churches, and theaters, as a soloist or with his ensembles (Chris Jarrett Trio and Four Free, among others) throughout the world. He has been active as an educator for over 30 years
